Thank you for your prayerful support for the work of Preaching around the world. This week Ruth Slater, our Associate Programme Director, shares some thoughts that lead us into the focus for prayer in the week ahead.
In England, after many months of lockdown, some restrictions have been eased. We still have a long way to go, but we are able to travel further and so some people have enjoyed reunions with family and friends who they have not seen for many months. Separation is a theme of all lockdowns and the impact is felt locally, nationally and globally. For example, it has been over two years since our Global Leadership Team has met together face to face and there is no clear idea of when we will be together again. Separation is hard, as we long for the physical presence and touch of those we love. But the word ‘separate’ also reminds me of those well-known words of Paul:
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom 8: 38-39).
We may experience physical separation from those we love, but there is no spiritual separation from the love of God, whatever our circumstances may be.
Let’s pray together for the work in many different places this week…
Central America: Today the preaching movement coordinators from this region meet with their regional coordinator, Dionisio Orjuela. Please pray for this time of prayer, fellowship and planning.
Pakistan: On Tuesday and Thursday, ‘refresher days’ will be held for Level 1, 2, and 3 participants in the south of the country. Local facilitators will lead this time together, with over 40 participants expected. Please pray for stability and guidance as the training is restarted in accordance with Covid-19 safety policies.
Argentina: The third part of a virtual seminar for Level 1 takes place on Saturday, with 160 participants from the cities of Salta, Resistance and Villa Maria. Paola Gómez, Romina Salvador, Romina Soria, Olga Brandan, Alejandro Vañek, Nelly Pérez and Andrés Peláez will provide the training, while previous participants will coordinate the preaching clubs. May the Spirit guide each seminar session. May each participant commit to the study and preaching of the Word. May the Lord give grace and wisdom to the facilitators.
Indonesia: Today a workshop designed to equip local facilitators to teach Level 1 is happening remotely. Thirty people, from Sumatera to Papua, are expected. Hamdani Tedja, as coordinator, asks us to pray for a clear internet connection and for the willingness of participants to move into learning this new way of training.
Colombia: Joaquín Madera, Donaldo Mendoza, Luis Pacheco and 25 coordinators of preaching club continue to facilitate a Level 1 seminar for over 130 participants from around the country. Please pray for effective ongoing learning among the participants through this remote training.
Latin America: On Saturday, the Leadership Team — Igor Améstegui, Jorge Atiencia, Alex Chiang, Dionisio Orjuela, and Wilfredo Weigandt — will host a meeting with all the facilitators from across the continent. They expect 80 participants. Please pray for good connectivity, for creativity in the design of the session, and for the Holy Spirit's companionship.
Paraguay: On Sunday the final session of the Level 2 seminar will take place and be led by Igor Améstegui. 20 participants will attend. Please pray that we will see the growth of the preachers in Ciudad del Este and pray for the facilitators as they continue to develop their skills in the area of providing virtual training.
Thanks for your prayers!
