Dear Friends

Thank you for your prayerful support for the work of Langham Preaching around the world. As the number of training seminars increases again, the length of this weekly prayer bulletin has also been increasing. However we think it is important to keep it shorter in length. And so we’ve made the decision to stop having the opening devotional reflection. For many of us, this is sad because these words each week have been part of the way God has sustained us through these difficult months.

We will continue to include our thanksgiving paragraph — and this week it comes from Jennifer Cuthbertson, our Director for Facilitator Development.

After three years and three months apart, these last ten days have seen the Global Leadership Team (GLT) together again. Celebration and gratefulness coloured every conversation, meal shared, game played, and walk taken. A visit to the new Langham Service Centre, in Carlisle, was a highlight as we learned about the systems and operations that make this ministry happen — and best of all, met the people behind the names. Let’s give thanks for the hard-working, gifted and skillful people who serve Langham Preaching (and all of Langham Partnership) with such remarkable grace.

Please pray for the work in various places around the world

Africa: The annual All Africa Langham Preaching Sunday is this week, on 26th June. After gathering physically in churches all over Africa in the morning, a zoom is planned for later in the afternoon. This is the opportunity to celebrate and share the vision of Uncle John Stott with friends and church leaders across Africa. Please pray for God’s grace and wisdom for all preachers who are given the opportunity to preach in churches. Pray also for smooth and stable internet connections for when we meet together on zoom.

India: Veena Bunyan (regional coordinator) is in the middle of an extensive journey, visiting the various preaching movements in India. (a) From Monday to Wednesday, she is in Bangalore for a Level Two seminar with 15 participants from the Kannada and Tamil work — with Michael Thomasraj also as a facilitator; (b) on Thursday and Friday, she is in Dimapur (Nagaland) with Alongla Wati-Aier, meeting with interested people and encouraging the preaching fellowships; and (c) on Saturday and Sunday, she is with Kedo Peseyie in Kohima meeting with local facilitators and preaching fellowships. Please pray for good health, safe travel and deep encouragement for each one.

Myanmar: A Level One seminar is planned for the Pegu area, south of Yangon, beginning on Monday. The political situation in the country is still so unstable. Keep Sein Kyi (preaching movement coordinator) and his team in your prayers as they look to re-build the momentum in the work in such a difficult context.

Trinidad & Tobago: A virtual Refresher Day is planned for Saturday, with Thaddeus Maharaj as the facilitator. They are hoping to have 30 people engage with the topic, ‘God, Government and Me: Developing a Christian Worldview on Politics.’

Zimbabwe: On Saturdays each week, a Level One seminar continues at the Northside Community Church, with Arnold Marunda, Verengerai Mavesere and Gary Cross as the facilitators. Please pray for more participants to register and that those organising the seminar remain ‘calm, trusting in the Lord and ready to be used by him.’

Indonesia : A Level One seminar, across three Saturdays, continues in Jakarta in cooperation with the Iman Theological Seminary. 25 participants are expected, with five from Timor Leste — and the facilitators are Njoo Mee Fang, Ayub Rusmanto, Ayub Wahyono, Rilus Kinseng, and Hamdani Tedja. Hamdani (preaching movement coordinator) asks us to pray ‘for all participants and facilitators as they learn together.

Thank you for your faithfulness in prayer!
