Thank you for your prayerful support for the work of Preaching around the world. Here are the items for prayer in the week ahead.
Benin: Twenty participants are attending a Level One seminar in Porto-Novo facilitated by Bonaventure Akowanou, Frédéric Djodjohouin and other members of the local committee. Augustin Houngbeme (coordinator) asks that we pray for financial provision, for the facilitators and for the participants, as they practice what is taught.
Indonesia: Thirty pastors and lay preachers from the Assembly of God participate in a Level One seminar in Bali, facilitated by Semuel Tulak and Jenny de Fretes. Many of them are engaged in ministry with the poor and the most vulnerable in this densely populated region. Hamdani Tedja (coordinator) asks that we pray that this training ‘will help shape their ministries and bring many people and families into maturity in Christ.’
Nigeria: Philip Babarinde, Godswill Chinemerem, Abraham Akoh, Joshua Omonoji, Philip Utaji and Sunday Musa are facilitating Level One, Two and Three seminars in Anyigba, Kogi State, with 150 pastors and church leaders. Ishaya Baba (coordinator) requests prayer for a training that enriches, engages and impacts each participant and that this will ‘reflect on their preaching for life.’
Nigeria: Seminar Levels One and Two, facilitated by Emmanuel Egbunu, Ralph Okafor, Aremu Adeyemi, Ishaya Baba and Victor Okporu, are taking place in Lokoja, Kogi State, with 130 pastors and church leaders. These seminars help fill the urgent need for training of pastoral teams in Nigeria. Pray that individual lives and congregations will be transformed because of what is learned, practiced and taken back to the local churches.
Peru: Twenty-five people are attending a Training for Local Coordinators of escuelitas (preaching clubs) in Tacna. Igor Améstegui, Jose Carlos Vieira, and Alex Chiang (coordinator) are the facilitators. Alex asks us to pray for a strong start to a preaching movement in southern Peru.
East Malaysia: Phil Nicholson reports that a second Level One seminar is taking place in Sibu, Sarawak, for 20-30 people unable to attend the initial training earlier this year. Give thanks for these eager participants and for the dedicated Indonesian team who are traveling long distances to facilitate this second seminar.
Kenya: Mercy Ireri, Margaret Thuo, Regina Mulonza and Ignatius Maimbu will travel 1,000 km by road to facilitate a Level One seminar in Yala Town! They expect 35 participants, mainly bishops from different denominations. Ignatius says, ‘Our prayer is that God's favour be upon the facilitators and the participants.’ Please pray for safe travel for everyone involved.
Zimbabwe: The second of twelve weekly sessions of a Level One seminar is taking place at the Theological College of Zimbabwe (TCZ), Bulawayo, facilitated by Jorum Mugari. John Bell (coordinator) asks us to ‘praise God for the faculty of TCZ who have seen the value of this pastoral tool for theological students training for ministry in the churches of Bulawayo.’
Romania: Rau Sadului, Sibiu, is the location of a Level Two seminar for 80 participants. Dani Oprean, Marcel Măcelaru, Costel Ghioancă and Amiel Drimbe are the facilitators. As Dani writes, ‘We pray for a fruitful time for all the participants as well as for new insights into preaching from the Old Testament Scriptures.’
Egypt: Pray for Pastor Youssef Samir and Paul Windsor, together with other church leaders, as they meet in Cairo to discuss the possibilities and strategies for developing the work in this country and in the wider Middle East North Africa (MENA) region.
Thanks for your prayers!
