Dear Friends

Thank you for your prayerful support for the work of Langham Preaching around the world. This week Ruth Slater, our Associate International Director, shares some thoughts leading to a focus for prayer in the week ahead.

It has to be said that I am not a naturally patient person, a fact that my close family and friends will verify. As we walk through life there are times when we desire and long for change to come quickly. Last week, I had the privilege of playing the piano at a funeral of a man who dearly loved Jesus and these verses were read from 1 Corinthians 15:

Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed – in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable and we will be changed.

‘A flash, in the twinkling of an eye’ - now that is a quick change! What a hope to have as we walk through this unpredictable, broken and suffering world. Change may not come as quickly as we like, but change will come in the twinkling of an eye when Christ returns and we rejoice together in the new heaven and the new earth.

Please give thanks with us
