Dear Friends

Thank you for your prayerful support for the work of Langham Preaching around the world. This week Eliana Ortiz, Escuelita coordinator, Temuco, Chile, shares some thoughts leading to a focus for prayer in the week ahead.

While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, ‘Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean’, (Luke 5:12).

Without great eloquence, this sick man called ‘unclean’ offered a short but powerful prayer; just a few words were enough to show humiliation before the Lord, submission to his will and the need for his healing touch. The Lord's answer was even shorter: ‘I am willing’. And consequently, the man was healed. This story reminds us that it is enough for us to simply approach our good Lord during pain, suffering and need because he wants to listen to us even if we only have a few words. He wants to respond to us, touch us, and heal us.

May our prayer be like the prayer of the leper; humble, simple, needy and longing for his perfect will! In this context, we pray for Chile:

  1. For the country and the presidential elections to be held in mid-November
  2. For the conflictive and violent situations in the north and south of Chile
  3. For the ministry of Langham Preaching, Chile:
    • May God give our new national team the wisdom to carry out this beautiful ministry and to face the challenges of returning to in-person activities.
    • May the Level One virtual seminar that ends next week (Chile-Uruguay) prove to be a great blessing and bear much fruit in the future.
    • May the old and new Escuelitas (preaching clubs) in our country continue to practise and grow.

Let’s remember to give thanks

This week, in Carlisle, UK, we had the privilege of welcoming Jocabed Solano to our Langham office. Jocabed shared how she first became involved with Langham Preaching as a University student and is now a Preaching Club Coordinator in her home country of Panama. After spending two weeks in Glasgow at COP26 on behalf of Tearfund, Jocabed returns to her work with the indigenous people of Latin America. What a joy it was to spend time together, to learn from her and to pray for her ministry!

Please pray for the variety of work taking place around the world

Central America: Thirty participants are expected for the virtual Facilitators’ Workshop November 18-20. The people leading this event are the National Committee, Jorge Atiencia and Dionisio Orjuela (Regional Coordinator). Please pray for everyone involved and its potential impact on our preaching movements.

Honduras: On November 18-19, a Level Two in-person seminar will occur on Jesus de Otoro Intibuca with Samuel Ulloa and Betuel Ayes facilitating for 15 participants. ‘Please, pray for every participant to travel safely from rural and distant areas to the workshop. Also, intercede for health and protection for all the people involved.’

Africa: The Langham Africa Leadership team is meeting in-person this week for the first time since 2019! Femi Adeleye (Director) asks us to pray for God’s guidance as they look ahead in their preparations and plans for the preaching movements and their growth in the Africa region. Please pray for good health and for safe travels for all the team members coming to Ghana for this meeting. Given the unstable situation in Ethiopia, pray especially for Dr. Frank Shayi and Bishop Muhindo Isesomo who will be travelling through Addis.

Burundi: Fourteen students from Bujumbura Christian University meet together with facilitators Bernard Rwamigabo and Ruben Safari this week for a Level One seminar. Please pray for this seminar that has been postponed since September.

Continue to pray

Uganda: A Level One seminar for seven women takes place November 20th facilitated by Paul & Barbara Majoli. This team is already a preaching club. ‘Pray that they will grow together and keep the commitment to preach expository sermons. Pray for good internet connection, too.’

Philippines: The four-week virtual Training for Local Facilitators finishes this week. Please pray for Phil Nicholson (Regional Coordinator) and everyone involved as facilitators and participants as they move forward better equipped for ministry.

Andean Region, Hispanic Diaspora: Please pray for this new initiative that unites preaching club coordinators from Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia with others in the diaspora in the USA, Canada, UK and South Africa.

Bosnia and Herzegovina: Please pray for Slavko Hadžić as he facilitates the weekly Level One seminar for eight potential preachers in Word of Life Church in Zenica.

Thank you for your faithfulness in prayer!
