Dear Friends

Thank you for your prayerful support for the work of Langham Preaching around the world. This week Muhindo Isesomo, our Regional Coordinator for Central Africa, shares some thoughts leading to a focus for prayer in the week ahead.

There is nothing which can separate us from God’s love which is in Jesus Christ. Romans 8:35-39

The situation we are living in here in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo is deplorable. Consider the massacre of innocent civilians by armed rebels, the resurgence of Ebola, and the Covid-19 pandemic. These have caused the death of many people and the displacement of countless others from their villages with nowhere to sleep, no food to eat, no medicine. Because of this situation, most people are spiritually tired and have begun to ask themselves, ‘is God still loving us or not? If God is still loving us, why can’t all these atrocities ravaging us each day be stopped?’

We praise God because our Langham Preaching club members are doing very good work among these traumatized people by preaching the Good News of Jesus Christ to them and encouraging them to continue to stand firm in their faith because nothing will separate them from God’s love in Jesus Christ. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Jesus Christ our Lord.

  • Please pray for the restoration of peace and security in Eastern DRC
  • Pray for our displaced people, especially the 3672 displaced families in our city of Butembo
  • Pray the doors will open for a restart of all postponed Langham activities
  • Continue to pray for all Christians affected by Covid-19 and other tragedies that they will stand firm in their faith knowing they are not abandoned by God
  • Pray for the healing of our broken world

Let’s remember to give thanks

The provision and use of online tools continue to cause us to give thanks. Last month, we were able to assist the Preaching Movement in Cambodia with a Zoom account. Increased Covid-19 infections in the country have meant limits on travel and gatherings being imposed, but as soon as the Zoom account was active the team got into action and now have a series of calls arranged for the end of this month. In the meantime, they arranged a Zoom celebration of 10 years of Langham Preaching work in the country. All of the alumni were invited and calls held on three evenings. In total, 100 participants attended these calls which included a presentation of the history of Langham Preaching Cambodia, some photos and a time for questions.

Please pray for the work in other places around the world

Egypt: Seventy-two participants from all across Egypt meet this week in Heliopolis for seminar Levels One and Three. Along with recorded teachings by Paul Windsor, Youssef Samir & Rev. Jan will facilitate. Bishoy Safwat, Amgad Adel, Samir Shokry, Amir Samir and Mina Awny will preach the evening sermons as demonstration and application to the teaching. We are depending on your prayers for the managing of two levels simultaneously.

Mexico: This weekend, a virtual Level One seminar begins and will continue each Saturday throughout the month of August. The 100 participants will meet in their escuelitas during the intervening weeks. Juan Luis Méndez, David Gallegos, Damaris Ameca and Karla Munguía facilitate and Alex Chiang, Jorge Atiencia and Dionisio Orjuela (coordinator) preach the model sermons. Because it is a virtual event, we ask that you pray for excellent connectivity, biblical expositions that minister to the participants, workshops and escuelitas meetings where the tools for a healthy exegesis, an accurate contextualization and a clear communication are applied.

Thank you for your faithfulness in prayer!
