Dear Friends
Thank you for your prayerful support of the work of Langham Preaching around the world. There is so much for which to be thankful as God does his work among us and through us. Here is one example from Esteban Améstegui, the Personal Assistant to our Director in Latin America while also carrying wider responsibilities in the global work.
The Langham Connect team began meeting at the onset of the pandemic. It has been mentored by Jennifer Cuthbertson, our Coordinator of Facilitator Development—with a focus on learning the principles of adult education, workshop design, and the facilitation of participant-centred learning experiences. The recent forum in Izmir provided momentum for the formation of small teams in each continent to grow and share these methodologies in their local contexts, thereby multiplying the work Jennifer has been doing over the recent decade. Give thanks for the prospect of our workshops and small group sessions not only having Christian content, but also a Christian teaching methodology. This gives to participants—God's creation made in His image and likeness—a greater significance in this ministry.
Please pray for the work in various places around the world…
Fiji: A Level Two seminar is happening this week for 40 students at the South Pacific Bible College. Students come to this college from across the South Pacific, so it is a strategic community—with its principal, Seru Rokosawa, a faithful supporter of the Langham work. Please keep the facilitating team in your prayers during this busy time: Peter Shultz, Taniela Qeleni, Etuate Vakarorogo, Chris Krishna, Ateca Rabukawaqa and Tukana Nakesu.
Peru: There is a Refresher workshop on Monday and Tuesday in the city of Abancay, led by Fernando Sevilla and Teofilo Silva. During the time together, four people graduate from a local escuelita—and there are hopes of 20 participants coming for the workshop. Please pray for God’s protection as people travel and that pastors and leaders form nearby towns will make the time to participate.
Peru: Another similar Refresher workshop takes place on Friday and Saturday in the city of Cusco—and led, once again, by Fernando Sevilla and Teofilo Silva. On this occasion nine people graduate from their local escuelita, with 25 participants expected for the workshop. ‘May God allow a beautiful work to arise in Cusco’.
Indonesia: A training seminar, with a focus on preaching from the New Testament, is planned for Tuesday and Wednesday with a preaching club in Bali Timur. It is expected that 13 participants will gather—with Beatris Pangala and Gordon Hutabarat as facilitators. Pray for good understanding and a determination to practice what they learn in their club.
Mexico: From Thursday until Sunday, a Level Three seminar with 60 participants takes place in Cuernavaca—with Dionisio Orjuela, Wilfredo Weigandt, Juan Méndez, Elizabeth Sánchez, and David Gallegos as the facilitators. Pray that ‘the word of Christ dwells in them richly, as they teach and admonish one another with all wisdom’ (Col 3.16).
Thank-you for your faithfulness in this ministry of prayer.
