Dear Friends

Thank you for your prayerful support for the work of Langham Preaching around the world. Here are the items for prayer in the week ahead.

South Sudan: Twenty-five participants are expected for a Training for Local Facilitators in Juba this week. Emeka Egbo, Ishaya Baba and Mercy Ireri are facilitating along with members of the local team (Richard, William, Silvas and Joseph). In addition to prayer for the facilitators and participants as they work together, please pray for economic stability and peace in this war-torn country as they seek to form a Government of National Unity before November.

DR Congo: Bishop Isesomo and Mike McGowan are to facilitate a Level 3 seminar in Kinshasa this week, with Femi Adeleye also present for the seminar and then for a meeting with the national committee (if his visa arrives in time!). Pray for all those who come, amidst the insecurity and uncertainty of political, medical and travel conditions in this nation. Pray that everyone will be encouraged by the work already accomplished and by their plans for the future.

Republic of Congo: Following their time in Kinshasa, Bishop Isesomo, Mike McGowan and Femi Adeleye will cross the Congo River to meet with the national committee in Brazzaville. The aim is to encourage them in their task and to discuss future plans and strategy. Mike asks that we pray especially for them as they manage the administrative difficulties that often accompany this river crossing.

India: Praveen Bunyan and Paul Windsor are facilitating a Level 3 seminar for 25 participants in Hyderabad this week. They are part of the All-India Project, an initiative that is hoping to see the launch of multiple language-specific preaching movements during 2020-2021. Praveen asks us to pray for safety in travel, as participants are coming from distant places and ‘for peace to reign in our country and that rising political and religious oppression will not deter us from the task at hand.’

Sierra Leone: A consultation, together with a Level 3 seminar, takes place in Kambia for 18 participants and with Richard Clarke and Chris Jonah as facilitators. We are asked to pray ‘for safety for those travelling, for fruitful and wise discussions on the Langham Preaching work, and for good fellowship and encouragement from the Bible.’

Trinidad & Tobago: There are three significant events this week: (1) The 10th anniversary celebration of Langham Preaching in Trinidad & Tobago was celebrated last Saturday with 140 people. Praise God with us for these years of his great faithfulness. The festivities included a ‘refresher’ seminar, 'God's Migrants and God's People' (the book of Ruth), with Mark Meynell as the facilitator.
(2) A regional consultation with leaders of the work from across the Caribbean takes place from 23-25 September. Paul Carter, Ruth Slater and Mark Meynell are to be joined by 15 friends from Jamaica, Haiti and Guyana. Angela Shirley (coordinator, Trinidad & Tobago) asks that we pray ‘for our friendships to deepen and that there be helpful, creative discussions on the future growth of the work.’ (3) Level 1 and Level 3 seminars, with 30 participants expected, follows the consultation in Tobago – with Joe Caterson, Kelvin Mapp, Lindsay Gibbings, Angela Shirley and Mark Meynell as the facilitators. Mark asks that we pray ‘for faithful and passionate engagement with the Scriptures to inspire attendees for the year to come!’

Botswana: Level 1, 2 and 3 seminars are taking place simultaneously in Gaborone this week with 40 participants. Frank Shayi, Clarkson Chidimuro, Prophet Ndwapi and Bishop Molefinyane are the facilitators. With national elections happening next month, we are asked to pray for peace in the country. Bolivia: A Level 1 seminar for 35 participants takes place this week in Santa Cruz with Freddy Huanca and Igor Améstegui as the facilitators. Pray that there will be an excellent learning environment so that participants begin their learning with enthusiasm and then move on to be committed in their escuelitas, or preaching clubs.

Ghana: Jude Hama, Emmanuel Mawuli Ahlijah, Gabriel Annan, Juliana Lartey, Aboagye Mensah, John Abedu Quashie and Victor Obeng form the facilitating team for Level 1 and Level 2 seminars this coming weekend. Victor asks us to pray that ‘the participants will be willing and eager to learn and that the seminar proves to be enriching, engaging and encouraging for them.’

Thanks for your prayers!
